John Cotton is a Chartered Accountant with a global career spanning over 30 years. Trained in Melbourne with one of the original Big Eight firms, John went on to work internationally, including a key role with a Big Four firm in London during the formative years of Risk Management and the development of Risk-Based Internal Auditing. While the work may sound technical, it was an exciting time of innovation that laid the groundwork for how businesses manage risk today.

Returning to Australia, John transitioned into accounting recruitment and founded Barnaby Recruitment in 2016. There, he combined his deep industry insight with a passion for mentoring — helping younger professionals navigate their careers with confidence and perspective.

Now, John brings his wealth of experience to the digital economy, offering email and list development solutions to help businesses grow and engage in today’s fast-paced marketplace. His approach is grounded in real-world experience and a genuine desire to give back.
